
DOOM's main draw is its lightning-fast, incredibly satisfying and violent as all hell gameplay. This is something players have wanted since launch, and for good reason. While some fans may be disappointed about Invasion Mode's demise, there is no denying how perfectly a Horde Mode will fit into DOOM Eternal. However, news on Invasion Mode was scarce until Executive Producer Marty Stratton recently announced that the mode was being canceled. Citing the consequences of working remotely, Invasion Mode is no longer in the works, however, the place is working on something else in its place: Horde Mode.

Eternal's first gameplay reveal teased an Invasion Mode - an opportunity for players to invade the single-player campaigns of other players as a demon and attempt to ruin their day. id Software has rather commendably managed to support the game with The Ancient Gods DLC and new Master Levels among other updates despite the global pandemic.

When DOOM Eternallaunched in 2020 to critical and commercial success, it did so with the promise of more content and updates to come.
